Dunbarton Door and
Entry Systems began its innovative journey over sixty years ago in post-World
War II Detroit, Michigan. William A. Ternes established Ternes Steel Company,
Dunbarton’s founding company, in 1946 to develop military housing.
In 1954 the company took an even wider turn in its manufacturing expertise
by designing and producing the first steel bifold closet door. In 1972
the company moved to Dothan, Alabama. By this time, the company also added
a new product to its manufacturing processes: the steel door frame, later
to be known as Rediframe. Today, Dunbarton manufactures four building product
lines: Rediframe Door Frames, Slimfold Closet Systems, AtHome Steel and
Fiberglass Doors, and Achiever Entry Systems.
